I have many facets of my job and life. And it seems that everything I’m involved in has ‘a new black’ these days…is it the same for you?
Project Management – Agile is the new black. Everyone wants agile. To be fair I was working on XP (eXtreme Programming) projects in 2001, and even though this was at Cutting Edge Strategies, we weren’t the first to do it. Anyway, now it’s all the rage. Even when it doesn’t make sense, it seems people are looking for something new, shiny and agile!
Training – Micro-learning is the new black. From what I can tell it is training in bite-sized chunks. And dare I say it, ‘byte-sized’ chunks, as it seems to be all the rage in eLearning communities.
Entrepreneurs / Small Business Owner – Human Centred Design is the new black. This creative approach to problem solving starts with the people you’re designing for and ends with new solutions tailored to suit their needs. Even though this is one of those trends that you want to say ‘duh’ to… how many products out there are benefiting the maker not the customer?… how many of your products are out there benefiting you and not your customer?
